Security of public figures and celebrities has always been a thorny issue in Uganda as several top entertainers have died in suspicious circumstances and top security and politicians murdered in cold blood over the past few years. It is against this background the female singer Mary Bata has enhanced her security.

The female diva has hired mean looking bouncers to man her security in this post lockdown period which is likely to be marred by insecurity. Mary Bata’s new security ring features muscular men all decked in black suits, reminiscent of a presidential guard.

However, many fans have complained about the new security measure by the singer, saying she is trying to put away her fans who have always mobbed her on several occasions for selfies and familiar handshakes. They say after gaining celebrity status, she is now taking herself away from the people that have made her.
