As aspiring members of parliament get nominated today from different parts of the country, the day has been quite vibrant with a few processions in defiance of the electoral commission guidelines on not holding convoys to centers of nominations.

Besides that, arrests of 2 legislators in Kampala and Wakiso have been made.

They include the Kira county mp –FDC’s Semmujju Nganda who was netted outside the Wakiso district EC headquarters where he had just successfully concluded his nomination process.

Semmujju, despite the ban on processions and large gatherings by the Electoral Commission, gathered hundreds of supporters at his home in Kirinnya Bukasa,in the morning to escort him for nominations.

He paralyzed traffic with his convoy of cars and trucks with crowds gathered therein and no social distancing at all.

Police picked up the legislator from the Wakiso EC offices and it has been confirmed that he has been taken back to his home.

Also, the National Unity Platform-NUP candidate for Makindye West parliamentary seat, Allan Aloysius Sewanyana is in police custody for staging a procession.

He was intercepted by officers from the Kampala South Regional Police headquarters at Katwe trading center and bundled on a police patrol vehicle registration while leading a procession shortly after his nomination.

Sewanyana was moving with about 100 supporters when he was intercepted.

Meanwhile, the National Unit Platform – NUP spokesperson, Joel Ssenyonyi, NRM’s Margret Zziwa, and Kenneth Paul Kakande have been nominated for the Nakawa West MP seat.

Shortly after his nomination Senyonyi Ssenyonyi spoke for the ordinary man dissing the Uganda parliament as full of people who pass laws without considering the common man.

He gave an example of Over the Top Tax, Ssenyonyi said it was shocking that MPs could pass it and later evade the same by passing a budget on taxpayers’ money to cater for it.

Ken Lukyamuzi also made a dramatic entry clad in an orange backcloth, said he was returning to parliament as a force to reckon saying he already has the record of once being the best member of parliament.
