The national unity platform party president Robert Kyagulanyi aka Bobi Wine has thrown out the security detail given to him by the electoral commission for siding with the state instead of protecting him.

Bobi wine was treated harshly by security officers on Tuesday during nominations.

Bobi wine was abruptly netted outside the gate of the Kyambogo presidential nomination center by a team of heavily armed security officers who demanded he gets out of his ride and follows them to a police van parked right in front.

On Tuesday, security forces frustrated plans by the NUP to launch its manifesto in Kamwokya as planned when they forcefully arrested Bobi wine at the party headquaters

Speaking today at the NUP party headquarters in a presser National Unity Platform ( NUP) secretary-general David Lewis Rubongoya announced the new development.

“On that note, our president (Bobi) has rejected the security team given to him the Electoral Commission. Those people who were supposed to protect him were instead the ones helping their colleagues (security operatives) to arrest him at Kyambogo after nomination,” Rubongoya added.

“On Friday this week, we will be launching our manifesto in Mbarara City. We will also officially open our regional office in Mbarara that day. We had planned to launch our manifesto here at NUP offices yesterday but you saw what happened; how security operatives fired teargas and bullets at us,” Mr Rubongoya said.
