Police are yet to release a statement on why National Unity Platform offices in Moroto town-Karamoja region were raided on Thursday morning
Under unclear circumstances, security operatives including police and the army stormed the NUP offices in Kampwahili Juu at around 6:00 am and sealed off the offices before blocking the entire road.
It is not exactly clear if items were confiscated in the process although the security guys led by the Moroto District Police Commander Jude Nasucha left the offices at about 9 am.
Andrew Lokpng Angulo, the Moroto District NUP Registrar was arrested at Moroto Police Station during the raid.
The NUP presidential candidate Robert Kyagulanyi aka Bobi wine claims police and military officials arrested and beat up his supporters before taking off with campaign materials.
Bobi wine says they even pulled down some of his posters for no particular reason.
This is not the first time that a raid of this nature is happening at NUP offices. Last month, security personnel raided NUP headquarters in Kamwokya and other different places in Kampala in a joint operation.
Several items were taken including red berets, T-shirts , documents, and campaign materials among others. The operation had targeted military attires.
