NRM Presidential candidate Yoweri Museveni has no kind words for politicians claiming he is too old to run the country.

Sevo who is seeking a sixth elective term in office in 2021 on the NRM ticket has lashed out at politicians playing politics of the age.

“Please, stop talking nonsense if you want to solve your problems. I was in my 20s and Mwalimu Nyerere was in his 50s but I was his follower. This was because I was following his ideas like the one of the East African Federation and the idea of liberating Southern Africa. Ideas are ideas whether they are supported by the young or the old,” Museveni said.

He was speaking to NRM flag bearers and other party representatives from the West Nile sub-region on Thursday at Muni university grounds.

Sevo indicated that ideas still remain the same whether they are supported by young or old people, instead of ideas saying they are misleading Ugandans.

“The issue is that, is this a correct idea of a wrong one? When you hear people talking about Biology( age), you know they don’t know what they are talking about.”

Museveni however urged the people of West Nile to vote for the ruling NRM government to ensure the achievements in the past 35 years are consolidated.

“This is not about biology where you talk about young and old. We are talking about ideas where you are either right or wrong. For instance, I am a Christian. The Christian idea is very old. Are we going to abandon the Christian idea because it is very many years old? Are we going to abandon the law of Moses which is 4000 years old,”

Arua city in west Nile is one of the 10 cities that was created in the 2020 2021 financial year. Museveni has so far met with leaders from Terego, Arua city, Arua district, Maracha, and Terego and Koboko

Sevo’s manifesto for the next five years once re-elected will focus on ” Securing your future”.

Sevo who is 76 years old has been President of Uganda since 1986 making it 35 years in power.

Museveni will be in the Nebbi district on Friday.
