Socialite Sheila Nadege aka Nalongo Don Zella has sued Speke Apartments at the Kampala-based high Court for negligence which resulted in the loss of her property worth UGX456,250,000.
According to the evidence before the court, it all started on 6th December 2020 when Don Zella rented apartments No 107 and 512, at Speke Apartments plot 19, Wampewo avenue for accommodation.
However, she alleges in her court documents that on the 25th December 2020, while she was out, a thief identified as Jeremiah Ojok a Kenyan national who was also a guest at the same premises broke into the rooms and stole money, Jewelry, 2 kids tablets, Nikon D850 camera,8passports,2laptops and hard drives all valued at more than 400million Shillings in total.

Now, the socialite through her lawyers of Semuyaba, Iga and Company Advocates, and Nsubuga K.S Advocates wants the High Court to compel Speke Apartments which trades as Speke Hotel 1966 Limited to compensate her for the said lost property.
Don Zella states that she was denied the key to her bedroom in the rented apartment despite numerous requests to the manager only identified as Nimesh which would have mitigated the loss.
“Failure to station a security guard on the apartment floor well knowing the residents keep valuables within the apartments and failure to require foreign residents like the identified thief to deposit passports or copies thereof with the defendant as it is alleged he was a Kenyan amount to negligence,” her affidavit reads further.
The Court Registrar is yet to summon Speke Apartments to file in their response to these allegations within fifteen days before the matter can be allocated to a judge to fix it for hearing.
