The Katikiro of Buganda Charles Peter Mayiga has urged the public to exercise self-control and encourage peace ahead of the general polls in 7 days.

Katikiro Mayiga says the elections are only a season in Uganda’s politics that ends in 7 days but Uganda as a country will still stay long after that.

He called on Ugandans to maintain peace and a nonviolent electoral period by putting Uganda and her people first.

Katikkiro Mayiga was speaking this afternoon at Bulange Mengo while meeting members of the Democratic party fronted by the party president Nobert Mao, as they paid a courtesy call to the Buganda Kingdom to Present their manifesto.

”We all are very heated up because of the campaigns, but in seven days I think the campaign period or electoral process will be over, and irrespective of the winner, Uganda will be here 50,10 5 years from today, Uganda will still be lying at the equator, at the heart of Africa when all of us may have departed. So in all these political endeavors, let’s put Uganda 1st, let’s put the ordinary people of Uganda 1st, that’s why we condemn violence and lawlessness, killings, abductions, and unlawful arrests.”Mayiga stated

The DP president Nobert Mao says an audit should be taken on all government officials who have amassed wealth in a sinister manner.

He says for a government official earning a modest salary to buy huge chunks of land in wealthy environments or poses very expensive property requires to be audited.

Mao says this is one of the things his manifesto will focus on once elected into the top office to curb high levels of corruption in the government.

Mao also pledged unconditional and immediate return of the institution’s property once elected head of State.
