Okoth says people should listen to the raining messages from religious leaders, media, and other stakeholders to promote peace and not violence during campaigns and on polling day.

“I would like to assure the whole country that whoever foments trouble will regret why his or her mother gave birth to him or her, whoever thinks will cause anarchy in this country, will regret the consequences. We have meanwhile been encouraged by a number of stakeholders that have released statements reaffirming peace and safety and condemning acts of incitement of violence”Ochola warned

Ochola has also warned political leaders  urging their supporters to stay at polling centers after voting monitor the elections “on false claims of election fraud.”

The IGP has dismissed claims by some Opposition members that there are plans to rig the Thursday, January 14, elections.

NUP presidential candidate Robert Kyagulanyi aka Bobi wine asked Ugandans to defy the EC guidelines on election day by staying at their respective polling stations after casting their ballot to guard their vote.

”Mr.Byabakama, the chairman of the EC is telling people to cast their ballots and go away, there is no law that you will be breaking when you stay and guard your vote, this is one historical day that we have as a people of Uganda, it is not criminal at all to guard your vote, if we all want transparency, he should not intimidate you,” he said.
