Police in Mukono has started investigations into circumstances under which a mother of 2 was murdered and her 1months old baby stolen.
The incident happened in Wakiso, Nama sub-county, Mukono district at the farm of one Hajat Bagala about 500 meters from Wakiso -Katogo Road.
The deceased identified as Nakiguli Carolyn had gone to fetch firewood alongside her 8-year-old daughter and 1-month-old baby.
Preliminary reports from police show that Nakiguli was attacked and strangled by one Anita Harriet for 30 years at the farm.
It is also alleged that Harriet ran away with the 1-month-old baby after also strangling and abandoning the 8year child identified as Kisakye Patricia.
Kampala metropolitan police mouthpiece Patrick Onyango says the deceased was found dead with a rope wrapped around her bruised neck.
He says the body has been taken to the City mortuary Mulago for postmortem examination.
Meanwhile, they have arrested the suspect from the Kalangala district and they are yet to transfer her to the district where she committed the crime.
He adds that the baby has been found in good condition.
