Omuloodi, Erias Lukwago is celebrating a clean victory after winning the lord mayoral seat for the 3rd time in a row.

The incumbent lord mayor for Kampala was officially declared the winner in a tightly contested race of 11 candidates on Thursday afternoon.

Lukwago who stood on a Forum for Democratic Change-FDC ticket had already maintained a commanding victory at 90 percent of the polling stations across the divisions of Kampala by the time he was announced the winner.

Lukwago first took the celebration to his residence this morning, where he danced and rejoiced in the company of his supporters prior to the big announcement.

Results read by the returning officer at Kololo, Mulimira Barbra, Lukwago polled 194592, NUP’S Nabilah Nagaayi came in second place with 60’082, Kazibwe Daniel aka ragga dee polled 23,388, Joseph Mayanja aka chameleon 12,212 among others.

Lukwago thanked the people of Kampala for voting for him despite the attacks, smear campaign, and efforts by his haters to criticize him.

”Actually, I can summarise it as a vote of confidence, there are a number of issues the people have been raising especially the B-tractors trying to malign me, there was a lot of smear campaign, attacks that have been leveled against me, but the judges have pronounced me themselves, the verdict is out that Lukwago is a very clean man and the only credible person among the 11 candidates they can trust the affairs of the city with.” he roared

He admits that much as he was defeated in a few areas by his opponents like Ragga dee and Nabilah, out of over 1400 polling stations he took a commanding lead.

”Because I overwhelmingly Won in all the polling stations, there are 9 constituencies, I won all of them, I won in all the 5 divisions, there are 1424 but I was only defeated in a few polling stations within the military facilities, Ragga dee defeated me in Nakaseero view state house and summit in Kololo , Kololo view has 4 polling stations, Makindye barracks and Mbuya he defeated me there, Nabilah Won only within the prisons there are 5 polling stations there where prison warders vote from”. Lukwago added.
