The fate of Schools reopening for continuing learners remains unknown until Cabinet decides otherwise.

The Minister for Education Janet Kataha Museveni says Cabinet will seat on Monday to decide when institutions of learning are safe to reopen.

Since March 2020, over 15 million school going students were sent back home following a national lockdown to control the further spread of the novel virus, COVID -19.

However, since then, the government has only approved learning for candidates at all levels but continues to keep others out and uncertain.

The latest communiqué from the National Council for Higher Education (NCHE) warned universities and higher institutions of learning against admitting continuing students or freshers for the next 3 months as a result of COVID-19.

Janet Museveni confirmed at an NRM parliamentary Caucasus on Saturday that after Monday 1st Feb 2021 all schools will know their position on reopening.

She further explains that parliament’s decision will be purely informed by science with guidance from the Ministry of Health-MOH.
