The Commissioner-General of Uganda Prisons Services, Dr. Johnson Byabashaija has made adjustments to the prison force.
The adjustments involve fresh appointments and retirement of some senior officers
Byabashaija says the changes take immediate effect as he has directed the Director Administration to take appropriate action as soon as possible.
He adds that regional police commanders need to take over where possible.
“The Regional Prisons Commanders where possible should supervise the handing and take over. These orders take immediate effect,” he said.
Among the new appointments, Stephen Lugonda has been appointed acting Commissioner of Prisons, Human Resource Planning and Development.
Fred Kajubi Kayongo, regional prisons commander-RPC mid-central has been transferred to prisons headquarters in the directorate of Human Resource Management for duty.
Meanwhile, Godfrey Obbo, DPC Mityana, takes over as RPC, Mid-Central Region.
Robert Jolly Bamutura is now the RPC Central Region after he was transferred from North Western Region on the same position.
Henry Natwaluma is appointed RPC, North Western Region replacing Bamutura.
Deogratious Sabba, the officer in Charge, Uganda Prisons farm Ibuga has gone on leave pending retirement at his own request.
Meanwhile Godfrey Kumakech, as Officer in Charge-OC, Uganda Prison Farm Ibuga from OC , Uganda Prisons Farm Mubuku
David Charles Opio, DPC Gulu, replaces Sam Edotu as RPC North Eastern Region, Edotu has gone on accrued leave.
Alfred Alula the OC, Uganda Prisons Otuke has been appointed staff officer, regional prisons headquarters, Northern Region.
Francis Lwanga, the OC, Uganda Prison Ntungamo has been transferred to Uganda Prisons Farm Mubuku as Officer in Charge.
Anita Karungi, OC, Uganda Prison Buwambo, has been transferred to Uganda Prisons Ntungamo as Officer in Charge.
Victoria Achan, Uganda Prisons Luzira Women, is now OC Uganda Prisons Buwambo.
Walter Atuzo, OC U.G Prison, Fort Portal is appointed DPC Mityana.
Patrick Busulwa is appointed OC Fort Portal.
Deogratious Muhonde who is on leave has been appointed Staff Officer Mid-northern region and he takes over from Felix Akoko Okwanga who proceeds on leave pending retirement.
