It is shock and grief at the Nakawa division after residents discovered the lifeless body of a cop dangling with a rope on a tree in broad daylight on Tuesday.

Police Constable James Ochan, attached to the Ministry of Water and Environment, was found at about 7 am, with a phone in his trouser pocket at Banda Primary School playground in Nakawa division.

Kampala Metropolitan deputy spokesperson, Luke Owoyesigyire, says the cop was identified using his phone that was tucked in his pocket and their office at Jinja road has already kicked off with investigations.

“He was identified by the phone which was in the pocket of his trousers. Investigations are ongoing to ascertain what exactly happened to him,” Kampala Metropolitan deputy spokesperson, Luke Owoyesigyire, said in a statement Tuesday.

Owoyesigyire says the Scene of Crime Officers, pathologists and detectives have gone to visit the scene and statements have already been drawn from his friends.

Meanwhile, Ochan’s body has been taken to the Kampala Capital City Authority mortuary in Mulago for a postmortem.
