A Uganda People’s Defence Force – UPDF chopper has on Thursday afternoon crashed at Spenah Beach in Entebbe under unclear circumstances.

The chopper, reportedly fell to the ground and broke into pieces a few meters from the Air Force base.

Brig Gen Flavia Byekwaso, the UPDF spokesperson has confirmed the accident she says happened at about 02:15 pm while the jet ranger was on a training flight.

Byekwaso says 2  cadet trainees whose identities are yet to be confirmed were piloting the chopper when the incident happened after takeoff near Lido beach.

She says they have been rushed to the hospital in a critical state.

”The two were rushed to the hospital to ascertain their health. Our aviation team is on the ground to investigate the mishap”  Byekwaso adds

In  January 2019, a UPDF AF 302 jet ranger on transit to Kabamba military barracks crashed at Ndeese hill, Bulo sub-county in Butambala district killing two army officers; Maj. Naomi Karungi and Lt Benon Wakalo.
