A fierce accident long the Fort Portal – Kasese highway a fuel truck has claimed 4 lives and left many badly injured.
At about 12pm on Friday at Kasunganyanja trading center in Kibiito Sub County, Bunyangabu district the fuel truck reportedly lost control, before ramming into a Canter and bursting into flames.
The fuel truck was on transit to Kasese district when it hit the Canter that was headed to Fort Portal, loaded with bananas
Both vehicles have been reported to have burned beyond recognition and the dead roasted to death.
Vincent Twesige, the Rwenzori West Police Spokesperson, says that they are yet to establish if the bodies were occupants of the truck or Canter.
Locals have always described Kasunganyanja as one of the black spots along the Fort Portal-Kasese road because of the smooth slope and sharp corners.
In December 2019,4 people died in an accident at the same spot after a lorry that was carrying cement from Kampala failed to brake and rammed into the incoming tipper lorry carrying stones.
