Journalists covering Bobi Wine processions to the UN offices have this afternoon suffered injuries in the hands of the military after being flogged with batons.
Robert Kyagulanyi aka Bobi Wine, the NUP president was taking his petition to the United Nations high commission on human rights following the kidnappings, random arrests, and torture of his supporters.

However, at Kololo, the media team that was going about their usual business, following events met with fuming soldiers who engaged in running battles with them beating and injuring the majority.
The soldiers reportedly questioned them as to why they were following Bobi Wine who had already reached the offices.

After a short while, all hell broke loose as the cops used batons and gun buts to shatter media cars before pouncing on the helpless journalist at the UN human rights office gate.

The bleeding journalists have been rushed to different hospitals with grave injuries while others have had their cameras and phones impounded by security personnel.

Among those battered include Galaxy Fm’s Rashidaah Naakayi who was taken to IHK Kitugum house almost unconscious, NTV’s Wamala Cliff was hit at the back of his head with a baton and left bleeding, New vision’s Timothy Mulungi, NBS’s Josephine Namakumbi,Irene Abalo -Daily monitor among others
Other Journalists who survived with minor injuries from the beatings, lost their shoes and bags during the running battles.

This morning, Patrick Onyango the Kampala Metropolitan police mouthpiece warned Kyagulanyi against planning to move with a crowd of people to prince Charles drive at Kololo .
Onyango said the police were prepared to handle them professionally if it so happens, he added that Bobi was only allowed to go with only 3 people to the agency because processions were banned due to covid-19.

Bobi wine heeded the police call and decided to move with the required number.
