Deputy IGP Orders Investigation
The Deputy Inspector General of Police, Maj Gen Paul Lokech, is furious that the police force has been cast in a bad light after in-house info was leaked to the public.
This comes after a communication was leaked indicating that the head of operations at police AIGP Ochom Edward had ordered police cops to extend curfew to 10 pm from 9 pm in favor of Muslims fasting.
The order had followed a statement from the IGP okoth Ochola telling Territorial Commanders to work with all Muslim leaders in their respective jurisdictions to address and respond to all concerns of crime and safety, threats during the Holy Month of Ramadan.
The AIGP Ochom order was soon discarded by the minister of internal affair Jejje Odongo who told parliament on Tuesday that it was expunged .

Now Maj Gen Lokech has directed the Police Director for Crime Intelligence,Brig Chris Damulira,to immediately investigate how that information went public without authorization,
“It has come to my attention that some UPF personnel leak confidential information to the public and social media. This is contrary to our code of ethics and it must stop henceforth,” Lokech states.
In a letter that has also been shared with all police divisions, stations, and units, Gen Lokech has warned of stern action on all culprits.
It also states that all Police commanders who access radio messages and books have been asked to act responsibly before it’s too late.
“Whoever will be found culpable to this misconduct will be dealt with severely. Commanders act responsibly to stamp out this vice by keeping their radio rooms and books safe. Director CI to take interest and investigate immediately,” adds Lokech.
This is not the first time that internal comminiques have been made public and investigations ordered .
IGP Ochola mid last year ordered for a probe of officers who were leaking Memos from his office and offices of directors.
At least four police officers and three civilians were targeted and ordered to step aside. But they were later exonerated by investigations. This left IGP bothered about who leaks internal information.
