Covid19 Vaccination Resumes
The Ministry of health has confirmed that vaccination will commence on Monday the 28th of June 2021 across the country.
However,this time,only health workers and persons ripe for their 2nd Astra Zeneca jabs will benefit from the vaccination exercise.
This has cut out many panicking Ugandans who were anxiously waiting to take advantage of this batch of vaccines to get their 1st Jabs.

With a sharp rise in infections standing at 74,260 persons and deaths at 752 countrywide, neitzens have started feeling the pinch of the deadly virus hence the need for vaccination.
Uganda has registered 126 deaths in a period of 4 days bringing the death toll to 752 according to the ministry of health.

Emmanuel Ainebyoona, the senior public relations officer at the ministry of health says vaccination in Kampala will be carried out by both Kampala Capital City Authority and the Uganda People’s Defense Forces.
“The COVID-19 Vaccination exercise resumes on Monday in Kampala and countrywide. In Kampala, it will be conducted by KCCA and UPDF health workers, Target population Health workers 2nd Dose group. he says.

Ainebyona however adds that various vaccination points have been set up in each division to enable smooth and easy vaccination.
”Each division will have 8 Vaccination centers within a walking distance to avoid congestion at vaccination points,” he said.

The program manager of Uganda Nation Expanded Programme on Immunization, Dr. Alfred Driwale explains that only people who received their first jab 12 weeks ago will get the vaccine.
“Only persons who have made three months or 12 weeks in this case will be vaccinated. We shall not give the vaccine to anyone who has not reached the 12 week mark,” said Dr. Driwale.
Health workers say the increase in deaths of patients is attributed to patients coming for treatment in a critical state.
According to statistics from the health ministry 1.127 persons are currently hospitalized at various hospitals countrywide.

So far, only 69 districts have received vaccines however,in the next few days, all districts would have received the vaccines. Each district will receive vaccines equal to the number of persons that need their second jabs.
Uganda recently received , a total of 175,200 vaccines will be used. The vaccines were a donation from France through the COVAX facility.
According to the health Ministry 2 other consignment of AstraZeneca in July and August. Over 600,000 vaccines are expected.
