Despite the covid19 lockdown being lifted a week ago, Police are still solid in the business of enforcing the measures on covid 19.

Traffic police cops have continued staging roadblocks at strategic points to crack down on violators of curfew time.

While partially reopening the 42-day lockdown on Friday, President Yoweri Museveni maintained the curfew time between time 7:00 p.m. to 5:30 a.m.

Luke Owoyesigirye the Kampala Metropolitan Deputy police mouthpiece, over 900 rides, and 500 Boda Bodas were grabbed and confiscated for breaching curfew.

He says all cars will pay a fine worth Shs 100.000 shillings while each Boda Boda will have to part with shillings 40,000 shillings.

He adds that the security personnel will continue with operations to curb the violators of the directives.

He further states that; “These operations will continue until riders and drivers respect the curfew time. It is not going to end today and we remind road users and other members of the public to respect covid-19 guidelines”.

As of Wednesday, the police announced that it had collected 909 million shillings from the express penalties issued to riders and motorists flouting traffic regulations and the Covid-19 guidelines.
