The Inspector-General of Police (IGP) Martin Okoth Ochola, in a twist of events ordered an investigation into the demise of the former Deputy IGP, Gen Paul Lokech.
Lokech died on August 21 at his home in Kitikifumba, Kira division after reportedly suffered a blood clot in his leg.
A pathologist report carried out by a team of four pathologists showed that his right lower leg got injured, and had a very big blood clot that had formed in one of the big blood vessels. Another blood clot was found in the lungs.
Despite this, Ochola directed the homicide department at the Criminal Investigations Directorate (CID) headquarters to investigate his death afresh.
Fred Enanga, the police spokesperson during a presser at the police headquarters has trashed all ongoing negative speculations into the probe.
Enanga says: ‘‘When you start these wild imaginations that there is kawukun=mi which gave poison, another person was saying there was intrigue it is not necessary. You are not helping. We shall furnish you with a report at the end of the day.”
Enanga says the order for an investigation into the late LT Lokech’s death was triggered by the dissatisfaction from the Acholi community over the circumstances surrounding his death.
‘He said: ”The IGP came up with the directive for further investigations to be directed because local politicians under the Acholi Parliamentary Forum and other leaders from Acholi were not convinced and it is against this background that this investigation was instituted in addition to the postmortem .”
Enanga adds:”we came out with a statement last time by four pathologists in addition to the director of medical services from UPDF, the personal doctor to the late and two family members,so eight people were present during the postmortem and findings were very clear.”
