The Mengo Magistrate’s Court has detained an elderly married couple for stealing three pigs and household property worth 5.5million shillings from a tenant .

79yr old Salongo Luzinda Gunatwamuka and his wife Nalongo Nalwadde Sylvia both residents of Nankulabye, Kampala, and landlords to Ivan Tumwesigye reportedly broke into his house and stole property. The aged couple will spend the night at the Court cells because they arrived late.

Tumwesigye, a businessman who rears pigs at his residence and owns a butchery filed a case of theft at Nakulabye police after he returned home on Tuesday night to an empty house. He claims that the couple resorted to stealing his property after he delayed clearing rent arrears for one month.

Tumwesigye further explains that the couple approached him for rent and he asked them to wait because his business had suffered losses. He says after he left the couple broke into his rental apartment and pig stye stealing a fridge sofa sets, beds, and the pigs respectively.

Nalongo has however denied the allegations saying they are too old to break into a house and steal items to that capacity. Salongo also says much as he loves pork he didn’t steal pigs.

Tumwesigye who claims to have pictorial evidence of the broad day robbery is now seeking to be compensated 5.5million shillings.
