Villarreal and Juventus meet

The hosts qualified for this round by finishing second in Group F, one point behind Manchester United and the visitors qualified as winners of Group H, two points clear of Chelsea.

Villarreal come into the match on the back of a convincing 4-1 win at Granada in La Liga on the weekend. The Yellow Submarine were 2-0 up at half-time and Arnaut Groeneveld bagged himself a hattrick, with two of his three goals coming from the penalty spot.

That was the 4th match in succession without defeat for Villarreal. They had previously defeated Mallorca at home and Real Betis away plus held Real Madrid to a 0-0 draw at home, with all three games coming in La Liga.

Juventus come into the game having been held to a 1-1 draw at home by rivals Torino in Serie A. it was a disappointing result for Juventus, especially as they opened the scoring after only 13 minutes of the match.

Torino scored the equalising goal in the 62nd minute and Juventus could not force a winning goal in the remaining time.
