Police in Kampala has launched a manhunt for a gang of five assailants accused of killing two local security guards attached to St. John S.S. in Mukono District.
The unidentified goons on the run reportedly stormed the school premises in the dead of the night at 2:00 am and attacked three students before killing the guards. The deceased have been identified as Kanyole Patrick, 55 and Huyha Fred 24.
Uganda Police Spokesperson Fred Enanga says the goons were armed with machetes when they entered the school premises located at Kyawambago village, Nakisunga Sub-county, in Mukono district.
Enanga says preliminary findings indicate that the thugs, approached classes where three students in S.2, S.4. and S.6 were attending preps and tied them up. They later proceeded to attack the guards wo were armed with batoons, tieing them up before hacking them to death.
He explains that one of the guards, Kanyole was dragged to the school play ground , hit on the forehead with a machete, leaving a deep cut , he was later strangled to death. His colleague Huyha was taken to the Sentry box near the main gate, cut severally before he was strangled to death.
Enanga adds that the goons proceeded to the offices of the Head teacher and school bursar robbing items, unspecified sum of money and dismantling the CCTV Cameras.
He says investigations into the crime have commenced and exhibits have been collected by detectives from the Criminal Investigations Directorate and Crime intelligence following a visit at the scene.
