Express FC picked up their first league win in as many games when they beat Police FC 2-1 at the Muteesa II stadium Wankulukuku.

Forward George Senkaaba and an own goal by Kiryowa George ensured the win for the defending league and CECAFA Kagame Cup champions while veteran midfielder Tonny Mawejje scored for the visitors.

The visitors started off well, opening the scoring on 11 minutes after veteran midfielder Tonny Mawejje had a good interchange of passes with forward Juma Balinya, Mawejje then made space on his left foot before slotting the ball into the far left top corner of the net to make it 1-0.

The Cops then seemed like they’d taken charge of the game but switched off towards the end of the half as forward George Senkaaba nodded home Sadiq Ssekyembe’s corner to level matters just seconds before the referee blew the half time whistle.

After the break the Red Eagles seemed rejuvenated and more aggressive to take the lead and it was only a matter of time, George Senkaaba curled in a cross from the right which was headed poorly by Ruben Kimera, the loose ball was met by Ivan Mayanja who chest controlled it and hit it toward goal unfortunately it hit the cross bar but lucky for Mayanja Kiryowa George was right in the path of the ball and it bounced off him to go into the net in the 56th minute to make it 2-1 for the hosts.

The Cops tried to get back into the game but Denis Otim was on hand to deny them on several occasions, Express FC could have killed off the game in the latter stages of the game through Erick Kambale but his effort was saved by Tom Ikara.
