Police in Wakiso has busted the leader of a criminal racket known for terrorizing and robbing from locals in Nansana division.
According to police the suspect Lubowa Geofrey alias Jeff connived with his colleagues to rob a local tycoon money worth 7.5 million shillings and other valuables before vandalizing his ride.
Uganda Police Spokesperson Fred Enanga says the suspect attacked Turinawe Robert, a businessman dealing in gas on March 11, 2022, with machetes stealing his 3 smart phone and hard cash. Turinawe was riding with his daughter identified as Sarah Nuwasiime.
Enanga says territorial Police in Kampala Metropolitan Area, South and Criminal Intelligence in Nansana Division affirm that the suspect has been behind a wave and armed robberies, sexual assaults against women, burglaries, and swash-and-grab attacks in Nansana Division.
He says the suspect was tracked down and arrested at Ochieng ward in Nansana Municipality. Upon search, he was found with two common flagged jackets used in robberies, two black T-shits labeled security, house breaking implements and opium.
He adds that a launch is on for other accomplices including Bate, Paddy and Kevin who are on our wanted list in the Nansana Division.
Enanga says the suspect has been a notorious bouncer, who was arrested in 2017 – 2018 in the women murders in Nansana and Entebbe.
“And in the year 2020, he was arrested for assaulting a Police Officer, who had gone to arrest him, for burglary and theft. He is a former convict, released 5 months ago.The arrest of this notorious suspect shows our determination to rid Nansana Division of such actors of violence.” says Enanga
