Earlier this week social media was left in shock after Police confirmed that it had arrested celebrated city businessman, Emmanuel Lwasa, on allegations of forging
a mineral trading licence that he has allegedly been using to export gold abroad.
The showy tycoon was arrested on Monday at Najjanankumbi, Rubaga Division in Kampala City and detained at Jinja Road Police Station in Kampala City.
Kampala Metropolitan police deputy spokesman Luke Owoyesigyire confirmed on Tuesday that Lwasa was in police custody.
“He is detained at Jinja Road Police Station for safe custody. His files are being investigated by the Mineral Police Unit,” Mr Owoyesigyire said.
The news about Lwasa’s arrest came a month after breaking up with his wife of one year Angel Kwakunda.
Closes source to Angel revealed that she was in a celebratory mood after learning about Lwasa’s troubles.
