The thugs, whose identities have not been established, lured their naive victims with beer and food in a parking lot at Pacific Tarvan located at Nakabugo trading center.

It is alleged that the hungry security guards and waitresses fell ploy and rushed to eat chicken and chips given to them by the suspects, falling asleep immediately.

Luke Owoyesigyire, the Kampala Metropolitan Deputy Spokesperson says the suspects disguised as customers, first approached Pacific lodges at about 9pm on Tuesday and booked rooms to spend the night and later moved outside the parking lot for a drinking spree.

Owoyesigyire told our reporter Minah Nalule that the two security guards watched as they salivated beer and food and leaped with joy when the suspects offered to buy them beer and snacks. The four, including two security guards and bar maids  were given a special treat of beers, chips and chicken.

Owoyesigyire says the food was laced with substances that made them sleep off immediately after consumption when the thugs stole the motorcycles..

“While  in the parking lot, the four men started buying beers for the two security guards and two barmaids, before buying them chicken and chips. One of the security guards who was a little conscious was assaulted by the four men, who overpowered him and robbed the seven motorcycles.” he explains

Owoyesigyire further says that police has so far recorded statements from the four victims who consumed the drug laced food. They are currently receiving treatment from Nakabugo Health Centre.

He says police have launched a hunt for the suspects as investigations into the matter progress.

“We have expedited the hunt for the suspects and more details will be available as soon as possible. We however want to warn night watch men on guard beats to avoid consumption of substances from strangers.“Says Owoyesigyire
