Kakooza James,54, the LC3 councilor of Kamwokya Church Zone, Central Division, Kampala was murdered by a group of assailants on Saturday, at Yusuf Lule road.
Kakooza was hit with a blunt object at 6:00 am in the morning during his routine jogging exercise on along Centenary Park, towards Yusuf Lule Road. Two assailants riding on a motorcycle attacked Kakooza, injuring him badly on the head.
Police says Kakooza was a strong advocate for sanity in his area as he constantly battled small groups involved in theft and smoking weed.
Police in Kampala is now holding one suspect in connection to the murder of the Kakooza. The suspect, (names withheld) is in custody as police traces other culprits involved in the targeted murder of the victim.
Fred Enanga, the Uganda Police Spokesperson says the victim was trailed by the perpetrators of the murder, after he posted his morning run on one of the Community Social Media Platforms.
Enanga has therefore cautioned the public to avoid revealing their plans or routines to the public as this may cause trouble and make one an easy target for enemies.
“Others do it out of excitement, fun and friendship. They reveal where they are traveling, having breakfast, lunch, dinner, parties, clubs, their families, their children and the schools they go to, after school activities etc.The challenge with it, is that you do not know who is monitoring your life and can take advantage of that information to harm you and your family members.” He says
He has also asked the public not to take photos while posing at venues with signs stating location on popular platforms like Facebook, Instagram and WhatsApp.
He adds that these posts might come with life threatening or damaging effects.
