İlkay Gϋndoğan

Midfielder Gϋndoğan became City’s first singing in the Guardiola revolution following a £21m move from Dortmund. Although his first season was ruined by a knee injury, the German established himself as an important member of the first team the following season. Gϋndoğan’s versatility has been key to Guardiola, seeing him take on the Fernandinho role, whilst also being deployed further forward in one of the advanced creative midfield positions.

Nolito

Spanish forward Nolito managed just one season at the Etihad following his move from Celta Vigo. The Spaniard made a bright start to life in England, being involved in seven goals in his first nine appearances, but never managed to settle to life in Manchester. He famously said that his daughter’s face had changed colour due to the English weather and departed Manchester for Sevilla after his one solitary season.

Oleksandr Zinchenko

Zinchenko’s move to City in 2016 very much went under the radar. Arriving as a midfielder, Zinchenko spent time at PSV on loan before being thrust into the first team. Injuries to first choice left back Benjamin Mendy and his cover Fabian Delph saw Zinchenko’s first team opportunity arise. Now quite possibly Guardiola’s No.1 pick at left-back, the young Ukrainian has proven to be a steal at just over £1m.

Leroy Sané

German winger Sané arrived from Schalke and was Guardiola’s first proper big money signing as City boss. Sané impressed with his pace and skill, but most importantly end product. His form was that good that he won the PFA Young Player of the Year in the 2017-18 season. Despite heavy links with Bayern Munich this summer, Sané stayed although will miss a large portion of this season with a knee injury sustained in the Community Shield victory over Liverpool.

Marlos Moreno

Colombian attacker Moreno was signed from Atlético Nacional and it may surprise some City fans that he is still at the club. The 22-year-old has spent most of his time out on loan and currently finds himself at Santos Laguna in Mexico. Despite being capped and scoring for his country, it seems highly unlikely that Moreno will ever play in a City shirt.
