The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) has announced that the 5th President Elect of Kenya will officially be announced at 3:00pm on Monday 15th August 2022.

Kenyans went to the polls on Tuesday 9th August to vote for president, senators, governors and Members of Parliament in general polls.

The race has been heated between UDA’s William Ruto also the Deputy President of Kenya and Azimio la Umoja, One Kenya Coalition leader Raila Odinga.

The announcement will be made by IEBC chairman Wafula Chebukati, the presidential elections returning officer at the national tallying centre, Bomas of Kenya.

Armed military officers have already taken over the security at the Bomas as various officials arrive to witness the next president.

For one to be declared winner in the first round, one has to get at least 50 percent plus one vote of the total valid votes cast.

One also has to get at least 25 percent of the votes in at least 24 of the 47 counties.
