City armed robbery: Kampala Metropolitan Police reports that the territorial Police at Old Kampala are investigating an incident of murder by shooting of James Amuriat, 26; a security guard working with SGA security company. The incident occurred last night 19.08.2022 at about 9:00pm while the deceased was guarding Nesta Petrol Station, Lusaze in Rubaga Division Kampala City.
The fuel station was attacked by two men dressed in black and armed with a pistol.
Preliminary findings show that Amuriat was seated, browsing through his phone when two men dressed in black came to the station with a jerrican and bought petrol. They then moved towards the deceased and shot him three times before disarming him of his rifle with 5 rounds of Ammunition which they took off with.
Deputy Kampala Metropolitan Police Spokesperson Luke Owoyesigyire says that the the Police were informed and responded.
Owoyesigyire notes that Amuriat was rushed to Rubaga Hospital but unfortunately, “he was pronounced dead on arrival. “
His body was later conveyed to the city Mortuary Mulago for Postmortem.
“We have since established that the attackers could have escaped using their vehicle which was parked about 400m from the scene,” Owoyesigyire said.
