Man United expected
Fresh from suffering an embarrassing 4-0 thrashing at the hands of Brentford, Manchester United will be hoping to avoid another humiliation when they host Liverpool at Old Trafford tonight.

As we head into Matchday three, the Red Devils find themselves second from bottom of the Premier League table without a single point to their name. That said, Liverpool sit fifteenth after registering back-to-back draws.

Last time out, Erik ten Hag’s team endured a 4-0 crushing against Brentford – conceding all four goals before half-time.

Due to a disappointing end to the previous campaign, the Red Devils head into Matchday 3 on a run of one victory in eight Premier League games.

It is worth noting, however, that Man Utd have only lost one of their past ten home games in the Premier League.

Meanwhile, Liverpool came from behind on two occasions to rescue a 2-2 draw against Fulham on the opening weekend.

Still, it is worth pointing out that Liverpool have avoided defeat in each of their previous 21 Premier League encounters.

The Merseysiders have also lost just one of their past 29 league games, so they will be confident of getting something from Monday’s clash.

Head-to-head: The last three Premier League meetings between these two sides have ended 2-4, 0-5 and 4-0 in favor of Liverpool.

Early Liverpool team news: Firmino returns; Nunez suspended. Liverpool striker Roberto Firmino returns after missing Monday’s draw with Crystal Palace as a precaution.

The Brazil international is likely to go straight into the side to replace the suspended Darwin Nunez, who begins a three-match ban for his red card against the Eagles.

Defenders Joel Matip, Ibrahima Konate and Calvin Ramsay, midfielders Thiago Alcantara, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Curtis Jones, forward Diogo Jota and back-up goalkeeper Caoimhin Kelleher are all still out injured.

Early Man Utd team news: Martial to return? Anthony Martial has returned to training ahead of Manchester United’s crunch clash with rivals Liverpool.

Man U expected

The 26-year-old impressed during the Red Devils’ pre-season tour but missed the first two games of the season with a hamstring injury.

United boss Erik ten Hag says Martial is back in training, but Victor Lindelof and Facundo Pellistri are absent.
