Speaker of the 11th Parliament of Uganda, Annet Anita Among (AAA) has revealed that there is a secret plot to assassinate her.
The Bukedea Woman Member of Parliament made the revelation while Chairing the House Thursday.
“I have got a report and I have only shared it with the LoP; I have got an assassination report wanting to assassinate me: Rt Hon Speaker.”
However, Among warned that “Whoever thinks the he/she is going to assassinate Anita, I was put in this chair by God; if anybody wants, I have my village to go to; I will serve until I get tired..”
While she did not reveal any clues about those plotting to kill her, the revelation comes following two critical moments in her life.
Less than a month ago, Speaker Among official got married to Moses Magogo (Budiope East, MP). However, it was rumored that Magogo had other close female friends in his life.
Secondly, days ago, Among spearheaded a campaign to have East Africa’s biggest dance festival – Nyege Nyege blocked.
Among argued that the festival goes against the morals of the society.
However, government yesterday cleared the event to go as planed (between September 15, 2022 and September 18, 2022 at Itanda Falls, Jinja).
According to the Minister for ICT and National Guidance, Dr. Chris Baryomunsi, “Ugandans should enjoy their country, provided they are not breaking the law.”
