President Yoweri Museveni Saturday morning dashed to the crime scene where NRM hero Col. Ibrahim Abiriga was brutally gunned down as he retired home Friday evening by unknown gunmen.
Col. Abiriga was shot severally with his body guard named as Saidi Buga Kongo, a UPDF soldier, while driving his famous yellow Volkswagen car.

President Museveni met detectives at the crime scene before setting off to the fallen NRM faithful’s home where he met family, relatives and neighbours to explain to them what caused the brutal manner in which he returned to his creator.

The President revealed: “Abiriga has died because of some issues relating to him as a person. Probably by some enemies.”
President Museveni added: “It is possible that he was killed over NRM issues because he was a strong NRM supporter.”

He went on: “It is possible they thought by killing him they would hurt NRM.”
President Museveni stated: “Investigations will proceed but there is a likelihood it could have been about his support for NRM.”

He blasted: “This shows the foolishness of these people who are fighting against NRM. We do not kill our opponents. NRM has the ability to kill but we have never killed even a single opponent.”
President Museveni explained: “We fight with ideas, I have mine, you have yours. If you want to do this and I want to do something else, why should I kill?”

He said: “If your ideas are good, the people will adopt them.”

President Museveni pointed out: “These murderers want to see how they can destroy our country.”

And warned: “But we shall defeat them because these killings are not now.”
