Police in Mubende have explained circumstances under which a police cop in the Municipality shot at a woman while enforcing Presidential directives on 7:00 pm to 6:00 am curfew.
The officer is being investigated along side four other colleagues for the dramatic incident that occurred on Monday October 17, 2022.
This comes as several conflicting reports have circulated indicating that the victim was injured by a live random bullet while relaxing at home while other suggestions state that she was selling liquor at home to revelers when officers on patrol nabbed them, hence the shoot out.
However, Rachael Kawala, the Wamala Regional Police Spokesperson says Noeline Nalubyayi, 36, a resident of Kirunji Ward, South Division Mubende Municipality sustained bullet wounds to her body while on a drinking spree at a local bar on Monday night.

She says four police officers on patrol at Kirunji ward realized that the majority of bars, restaurants and shops were flouting curfew, ordering them to close shop immediately. However one of the bars where Nalubyayi was drinking remained open, attracting the attention of one police officer.

Kawala says the police officer was treated harshly by revelers in the bar who instead pushed him out and in the process caused his leg to get stuck at the door. She further explains that during the scuffle, other officers arrived at the scene to rescue their colleague but were instead conquered by the drunkards who pounced on them.
She says this action caused one of the officers to open fire, shooting Nalubyayi in the process.
On Saturday, President Museveni announced 21 days of lockdown in Mubende and Kassanda districts restricting movements in and out, as a measure to mitigate the spread of Ebola virus disease.
The restrictions also affected seasonal markets, worship places, and social places like bars and gyms while all burials shall be conducted by the safe burial teams.
