Traders under their umbrella body – Kampala Capital City Traders’ Authority, KACITA has started enforcing Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) as Ebola cases are registered in Kampala.
Thadeus Musoke Nagenda, the acting chairperson of Kacita told journalist on Thursday that they have set up an Ebola taskforce to monitor and ensure that SOPs are religiously followed to avoid an upsurge of cases.

This development comes as a section of politicians are fueling rumours of another lockdown to contain the spread of the virus.
According to Naggenda, enforcing a lock-down will only affect the economy as several businesses are yet to recover from the previous COVID 19 lock-down.
Naggenda has called for joint efforts to fight against further spread of the disease so that history does not repeat itself.
He further says traders who won’t comply with the SOPs and measures will have their businesses closed for the safety of the population.
“As we talk now Kampala has registered a number of ebola cases and now KACITA is planning to launch a drive for sensitization on Ebola and doing bulungi bwansi in Owino, hold board meetings and meeting with the Ministry of Health and KCCA to come up with tangible solutions,” he says.
During her address to the media on the current status of Ebola, Health Minister Dr Jane Aceng said 109 people have been confirmed with Ebola, of whom 30 succumbed to the virus, 34 treated and recovered while 45 are under treatment in 35 days since the declaration of the outbreak.
On Tuesday 24th October, Dr. Aceng announced that seven family members from Masanafu and one health worker who managed a patient in private clinic together with his wife from Seguku had tested positive for the virus.
The Ministry also announced another five cases of the deadly disease that were transferred to the Entebbe Isolation for Treatment Unit from Kawaala Health Center.
