The Inspector General of Police (IGP) Martins Okoth Ochola has ordered intense deployment of security personnel at Busiika Police station in Luwero, after two officers were attacked and killed.

The tiny police post located at Busiika Town Council was on Monday night invaded by seven goons armed with a pistol and guns. The unknown killers opened fire on police officers at 7:30 pm before fleeing with stolen guns.

The deceased have been identified as D/IP Wagaluka Alex, the in-charge CID and PC Ongol Moses, both attached to Busiika Police station.The injured identified as PC Ochom Adrian and PC Odama Stephen, are currently admitted at Bombo Military General Hospital in a critical state.

Fred Enanga, the Uganda Police Spokesperson says the thugs also tried to burn down the police station. However, the fire was put out by locals at Busiika Town Council.

In a statement same statement, the lGP has extended his deepest condolences to the bereaved family, friends, relatives and workmates to the deceased. He has also vowed to trace and arrest the unknown goons for the heinous act.

“Our specialist task teams are working diligently to identify and apprehend the suspects behind the deadly attack. We shall not rest until when they are arrested and brought to book.”

He adds that in addition to creating an emergency alert, police have deployed extra manpower, at the crime scene.
