Benfica host Inter Milan
Inter Milan will travel to Lisbon to play Benfica in the first leg of their Champions League quarterfinal first-leg fixture on Tuesday night.
The Nerazzurri are in awful form ahead of the first-leg match. They failed to win any of their last six matches in all competitions.
Pressure is growing on head coach Simone Inzaghi, as Inter are coming off back-to-back 1-1 draws in all matches. Inter faced off against Portuguese opposition in the previous round against FC Porto. Inter won the tie 1-0 thanks to a first-leg goal from Romelu Lukaku.
Benfica saw their 16-match unbeaten streak end over the weekend against FC Porto. The Eagles were beaten 2-1 at home at the Estadio da Luz. Manager Roger Schmidt’s team is still in the league lead in Portugal and is on pace to win the title.
Inter Milan are struggling on the road for wins. The Nerazzurri have a record of 6W-6D-7L in 19 matches in all competitions away from the San Siro.
The Nerazzurri are not scoring goals. They scored a mere three goals across the last six matches in all competitions.
Benfica have a home record of 18W-2D-1L in 21 matches. The Eagles scored a brilliant 64 goals in those 21 matches at the Estadio da Luz. Benfica conceded just 18 goals at home while keeping nine clean sheets.
Schmidt has four players receiving injury treatment ahead of Tuesday’s Champions League first leg. Forwards Alexander Bah and Goncalo Guedes are both nursing knee injuries. They are expected to miss the game.
Defender Mihailo Ristic has a muscle injury and is a doubt to play. Forward Julian Draxler is nursing an ankle injury. He could miss the fixture.

Inzaghi won’t have midfielder Hakan Calhanoglu available. The former Bayer Leverkusen player is out with a thigh injury. Defender Milan Skriniar may miss the match following a back injury.
Inter’s poor form should continue on Tuesday in Lisbon. Benfica should post a victory over the Nerazzurri by a 3-1 score. The Eagles may have lost domestically at the weekend, but they are playing well in the Champions League.
