Tragedy struck at Lwafumu Forest in Mpigi District on Sunday evening after a speeding Drone vehicle (UBM 672G) lost control and overturned, killing one person on the spot and leaving six others injured.
The crash happened around 5:45 PM on May 25, 2025, along the Bunjako–Buwama road. According to police, the vehicle was moving recklessly, overloaded with passengers seated dangerously.
Police had already flagged this same vehicle earlier in the day at Lungala for violations like unsafe passenger carriage and unclear number plates. It was among a group of four vehicles, but while others stopped, this one sped off and defied orders. Hours later, it claimed a life.
The runaway driver is now on the run, and police have launched a manhunt.
Traffic Police spokesman SCP Michael Kananura has warned drivers: “Obey the police when you’re told to stop. You could be saving lives, including your own”
