Chilling fear has gripped the neighborhood of Lugonjo Nakiwogo Cell in Entebbe after a beloved elderly couple was found brutally murdered inside their home in what police believe may have been a planned attack.
The victims, identified as Mutaaga David (69) and his wife Deborah Florence Mutaaga (62), were discovered lifeless on Saturday morning with multiple stab wounds, a scene that residents described as “blood-soaked and horrifying.”
According to a household worker who first raised the alarm, something seemed off that morning, the gates were open, the home unusually silent. When police arrived, they were met with a grisly sight.
“The couple was found inside the house, both dead with deep stab wounds. It’s a brutal and senseless crime,” said Kampala Metropolitan Police Deputy Spokesperson ASP Luke Owoyesigyire.
Forensic teams rushed to the scene, documenting the evidence and collecting items believed to be of high evidential value. The bodies were transported to Mulago City Mortuary for a postmortem as detectives intensified their hunt for the killers.
The motive remains unclear, but police say aggravated robbery is high on the list of possibilities.
“We are not ruling anything out. What we know is that someone wanted them gone. Whether anything was stolen is still under investigation,” ASP Owoyesigyire told journalists.
Locals say the couple, who had lived in the area for years, were quiet and respectable. Their violent death has left many residents shaken and demanding immediate action.
“We don’t feel safe anymore. If people can just walk in and kill an old couple like that, what about the rest of us?” one neighbor asked, visibly distressed.
Police have since launched a full-scale manhunt for the assailants and promised swift justice.
“We condemn this horrific act and will not rest until the killers are behind bars,” ASP Owoyesigyire assured.
