Police in Buikwe District have arrested a local cobbler, Kizito William, also known as “Taata Innocent”, following allegations of sexual abuse of children in Kizigo village, Najjembe Subcounty, Lugazi Municipality.

The arrest follows reports from parents after their children, including a 13-year-old pupil at Omuto Emmaus Primary School, revealed that they had been sexually assaulted. According to the accounts, the suspect allegedly targeted children when they visited his shop to deliver or collect shoes.

Parents said the cobbler had been waiting for children to bring their shoes home, using the opportunity to commit the alleged assaults.
