Police have arrested Assistant Inspector of Police Clive Nsima after a video surfaced online showing him slapping a female attendant at a Shell petrol station. The video quickly went viral, sparking outrage from the public.

Police spokesperson Kituuma Rusoke confirmed that Nsima is currently in custody and investigations have begun.

“We are taking him on in accordance with the evidence at hand,” Rusoke said

He added that authorities have also spoken to the victim and witnesses.

The spokesperson condemned the officer’s actions, saying that police are custodians of the law and should not violate it, especially with impunity. Rusoke noted that Nsima has previous offences, but investigations are currently focused on this incident.

The officer will be arraigned once investigations are complete, with police assuring the public that justice will be served.
