President Yoweri Museveni has approved of dialogue among parties but wants NRM representatives to question opposition on the current wave of violence, torture and vote rigging.

President Museveni noted that there has been growing levels of political violence, alleged torture and vote rigging in the last 35 elections where his party lost 4 of them.

The President was addressing the nation at State House in Entebbe where he raised the need for talks.

Museveni noted: “Coming to the Political Parties, apart from the legal and court solutions. There is the standing arrangement of political dialogue through Interparty Organization for Dialogue (IPOD).”

He said: “I am going to ask the NRM delegates to that forum to raise the issue of political violence. The issue of alleged torture. The issue of inter-party support for taking advantage of the youth dividend by expanding their empowerment that has already started.”

President Museveni pointed out: “Cabinet decided that the State House Comptroller, Madam Lucy Nakyobe, should head this effort because she has already started. And what she has done has been successful.”
