Bishop Zac Niringiye is again talking national dialogue.
Bishop Zac believes the solution to the recent wave of assassinations and insecurity in the country squarely requires round table talks among different leaders in the country.
But at the peak of it the man of God thinks President Yoweri Museveni should be present.
Bishop Zac in a conversation on NBS Tv Monday morning said: “Bishop Zac: We will all be benefices of the national dialogue, President Museveni is a very critical actor in this dialogue and the good thing is that it provides for a safe entry and exit for the president.”
He added: “We must create a situation in which a previous president can retire honorably and can be consulted. This isn’t an FDC or opposition issue, it’s a Ugandan process.”
Bishop Zac said: “It is necessary for all of us to negotiate our future. At the moment, it is sad that we’re reducing this conversation to tribal and regional identities.”
He went on: “Uganda is stuck. These assassinations are too serious, the country is insecure and the reason on how to resolve it lies in the national dialogue. People are resorting to violence as a way to deal with what’s happening in the country.”
Bishop Zac further urged: “This Uganda that isn’t working needs to be history in order for a new Uganda to come alive and I think the national dialogue is critical in realizing this. We need to converse a future for the children.”
On violence, the man of God said: “The issue of being partisan is a facade on top, the question of violence, the risk for another violent transition encompasses everyone. It is important for the county to hammer a new consensus.”
He stated: “All critical centers of the society need to be speaking about this, the civil society, the military, the local leaders, etc. It really needs to be a collective effort. We want to hear the Catholic church talking about this.”
Bishop Zac warned: “There is absolutely no question on where we were 10 years ago, we’re at a worse place than we were 10 years ago. All safeguards have been removed from the constitution. “
