Kampala Lord Mayor Elias Lukwago has celebrated the resignation of Kampala Capital City Authority(KCCA) Executive Director, Jennifer Musisi.

Musisi on Monday announced her resignation after seven years in office. In a 21-page letter dated October 15, 2018, Musisi said she will cease being executive director of KCCA effective December 15, 2018.

Addressing a press conference at his office at City Hall in Kampala, this morning,  Lukwago said Musisi’s resignation is good riddance and that he is very excited.

”Last evening we were treated to a shock …it is unfortunate that a copy was not given to the office of the Lord Mayor, typical of Madam Musisi; she has little respect for her colleagues.” Lukwago said

Lukwago accused Musisi of being disrespectful, obsessed with power and worked with a lot of impunity.

”It’s very absurd, its a practice we have always condemned. Musisi is suffering from exaggerated sense of self importance, she believes that she is above every body and she knows only one person in this country; that is Mr. Yoweri Museveni” the Lord Mayor noted.

”I’m glad that what we prophesied has come to pass.  Of course I cannot hide my excitement. I cannot, it’s a  very  exciting moment for me. Indeed since last night when I received the news, I couldn’t even catch sleep because of excitement. We have had a roller coaster life here because of  nothing else but impunity….she was too much obsessed with impunity and power…She believed she was above the law.” Lukwago said

Lukwago, also accused Musisi of continually absconding from duty saying she had stopped working in 2016 and missed numerous KCCA meetings on grounds of being out of office or away on leave.

He said her resignation should act as an eye opener for Minister Beti Kamya and Museveni.Image result for Lukwago and Musisi

” I know it is not yet Uhuru, the struggle is still on….for Beti Kamya, that one I know any time she’s going. The  next day I would love to see is Museveni exiting the president’s house.” Lukwago said

He ,however added that Musisi must account for the time she has spent in office thereby revealing that they will on Thursday hold  a meeting , at the council hall ,  in which they expect Musisi to give a detailed account from her office.

Having been on the steering wheel for more than  seven years,  a term which was characterized by bickering between the political and technical wings of KCCA, Musisi  is credited for transforming Kampala’s infrastructure and improving the public image of the city.
