Susan Namata 21, who was yesterday charged and remanded to Luzira prison on charges relating to insulting the person and privacy of President Yoweri Museveni is to spend two more weeks in prison after failing to secure bail earlier today.
Namata , who is facing two counts of cyber harassment and offensive communication which she has since denied, had appeared before Buganda Road Grade one magistrate Stellah Maris Amabilis to have her bail heard. However, Police at CPS did not forward her file to court to enable the State prosecutor Miriam Njuki respond to her application.
Namata had legal presentation by Isaac Ssemakadde , however, he was not allowed to say anything after failing to show proof of his practicing certificate as an enrolled advocate.
The trial magistrate thus adjourned the case to November 20.
It’s alleged that in August 2018 within Kampala and Wakiso districts during protests to free the Kyandondo East MP Robert Kyagulanyi aka “Bobi Wine from Makindye Military police barracks, Namata with others still at large used a computer to record a video in which they used obscene words to referred to President Museveni and also threatened to throw their genitals in his teeth if he failed to order for Bobi Wine’s release.
