A month after President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni toured Kampala, he has pledged Uganda 2.5 billion shillings to Kampala National Resistance Movement (NRM) youth, after the youth threatened to join Kyadondo East MP Robert Kyagulanyi’s People Power political outfit, complaining that they had been sidelined during the tour.
The pledge was made this morning, by State House comptroller, Lucy Nakyobe who met the NRM youth at Biyem Hotel in Mengo.
The youth presented a 796 million shilling washing bay project, saying the already operational washing bays in five Kampala divisions are in dire state and require modern car machines and water pumps.
Addressing the youth, Nakyobe said their request of washing bay machines and water pumps will soon be fulfilled.
She noted that the youth had not been abandoned, arguing that plans were in advanced stages for president Museveni to meet them and that the President’s vision is to support all Ugandans youth not just NRM supporters.
There were claims that we had ignored you. We are sorry for anything that went wrong,”Nakyobe said.
“I know you support President Museveni and I am ready to support you.”
Nakyobe also launched a yellow overall with a yellow beret that the NRM youths unveiled to counter to red People Power overall.
Mahad Kaweesa who spoke on behalf of the Kampala NRM youth noted that they were angry for having missed out on the president’s cash, but they their hope has been revived. He promised, on behalf of the youth, to rally behind president Museveni.
