Police have confirmed 10 people dead and rescued 40 in a threatening boat capsize on Lake Victoria Saturday evening.
Among those in the boat were singers Iryn Namubiru and The Mith of the group Klear Kut.
Police posted on their twitter account: “Uganda police force marine unit rescues over 40 people alive on lake Victoria. Ten died. Rescue mission still on.”
Reports say the boat that capsized belongs to Templa Omona which docks at Ggaba and it was headed for Mutima Island.
It is reported to have overloaded leading to the unfortunate disaster that has left many fighting for their lives in the water.
