Two Bank of Uganda security personnel have been charged with negligence leading to the disappearance of closed banks documents.
Beatrice Kyambadde and Charles Mollo appeared before City Hall Court in Kampala this morning , charged with negligence and remanded to Luzira Prison until December 6.
This was after prosecution told court that police investigations is not yet complete.

The two were arrested alongside the bodyguard and driver of former BoU executive director for Supervision, Justine Bagyenda on orders of the parliamentary committee investigating the closure of commercial banks.
The MPs also ordered the arrest of Ms Juliet Adikot (bodyguard) and Mr Job Turyahabwe (driver) after the duo gave contradicting testimonies to the committee in relation to Ms Bagyenda’s itinerary on the day three bags were returned to the central bank on February 10, 2018.

Meanwhile, Parliament’s Committee on Statutory Authorities and State Enterprises this afternoon prematurely ended its sitting after former Bank of Uganda executive director for banking supervision, Justine Bagyenda asked for more time to dig up documentary evidence to back her decision to clear the closure of three commercial banks without valuation reports detailing their financial status.

While appearing before the committee together with the central bank’s top leadership, Bagyenda said she needed time to present decisions taken on the sale of Global Trust Bank, which was sold in just one hour after its closure.

The committee chairperson Abdu Katuntu pushed the probe to Thursday morning, cautioning the officials against any further rat race and asked them to get acquainted with the audit queries beforehand.
