A security guard attached to RedTek Security Company has been arrested in connection with the recent shooting in Kyengera Town Council, which left one person dead. The guard, identified as Isaac Okwir was arrested from Soroti, on his way to his home in Pallisa district.
It is alleged that Okwir, who was on guard duty at a Pepsi-Cola Depot in Kyengera, Wakiso district, shot and killed a mechanic identified as Abubakar Kinene, after an argument on Monday.
Records at Kyengera Police station indicate that after the shooting, the security guard left his duty station, abandoned his gun outside the offices of RedTek Security Company in Ntinda and disappeared.
The gun which was picked outside the firm’s gate the next day was found with three rounds of ammunition.
Kampala Metropolitan Police Spokesperson Luke Owoyesigyire says that the suspect has been transported back to Kampala pending murder charges to be preferred against him.
